Description: This file represents the City of Charlottesville's digital existing structure layer. This digital existing structure layer is continually updated on a daily basis by City staff from Neighborhood Development Services (NDS). Location data for buildings are received by NDS staff (from various sources, such as updated orthos, GPS, plats, etc.) and incorporated into this layer. The information contained in this file is NOT to be construed or used as a "legal description." Any errors or omissions should be reported to NDS for correction. In addition, it is possible for a one-to-many relationship to exist between structure polygons and structure addresses. The masteraddress table should be used to identify structures for which multiple addresses exist (e.g. apartments, duplexes, condos, etc.). To access the information in the masteraddress table, the BID field in the structures layer can be used to link to the BID field in the masteraddress table. The addressing information fields located in the structures layer may only reflect the first address for a particular building. Use the masteraddress table to determine if more addresses exist for any given structure polygon.
